LOUISE MANN

"... The camera's lens cannot focus on thoughts or feelings. The camera cannot know what is motivating me. It is simply a tool. I have to make it work for me; it must capture my perceptions of the scene before me.

In my latest works I have used my camera to capture the light, colour and tone of our Western Australian shoreline. I have embarked on an exploration at the edges of the psychological dimension. These images are timeless; they do not capture the moment, they capture the essence of my personal response to my environment... "
- Louise Mann, Artist's Statement. Right Field, 2008
