My work is an investigation of the dynamics and transformations in cultural identity and affinities in the process of uprooting and transplanting oneself in a new land. It is also a study of the gains and losses in the transition from tradition to modern day life.

Investigating my Middle Eastern and Jewish heritage through my love of the landscape, architecture, languages and wisdom of the complex and intertwined cultures of that part of the world informs my work. I am interested in the frayed edges of cultures and mythologies, where conversation, interaction and cross-fertilisation with other cultures occur.

I am challenged and fascinated by the materiality and discipline of clay and at once the mysteriousness and unpredictability of its nature. The process of making is a constant negotiation between creating a new entity and uncovering that which already exists, hidden within the folds of the material, governed by principles of earth fire and time.

My endeavour is to reveal forms and surfaces that evoke a sense of history, while carrying narratives that transcend time. I make vessels the relevance and aesthetics of which lie with the grounding of the contemporary and the personal in cultural continuum.
